Learning Center
We are a Learning Center for families seeking alternative education for their children. We are here to support the whole family as we choose to raise and educate our children in a respectful and honoring way. There are millions of us who are walking away from the old paradigm and giving birth to new ways, new systems, and new solutions.
-
Are you looking to send your child to a place where they can learn, grow and have community?
-
Do you want an alternative to public or private school or need homeschool support?
Rising Moon Meadows Learning Center offers full or part-time options for children ages 5-12 and is located in Bellingham, WA.

Mission
Our mission is to provide education that engages the child cognitively and emotionally. We want to give children experiences that get them thinking and asking questions. We recognize and welcome the unique gifts brought by each child, encouraging independent thinking and imagination, and foster a life-long love of learning.
Vision
Our vision is to provide a place where children can thrive, learn, grow and have authentic connections. We will use a curriculum to help guide the core academic subjects while teaching children about thoughtful communication, connection to nature and themselves. With child lead learning each child will be given the chance to explore their talents in a supportive and enriching environment.

Monday–Thursday Learning Program
At Rising Moon Meadows Learning Center, our Monday through Thursday programs focus on building strong foundations in language arts, writing, and math, while honoring each child’s natural pace, curiosity, and individuality. Families may choose the pathway that best supports their child’s learning style and goals.
Individualized Student Support
Families may choose an option that includes individualized academic support in language arts and math, using a curriculum provided by the family. Educators work closely with each student and families to reinforce foundational skills, offer guidance, and support steady academic progress.
This option is ideal for families seeking structured academic support in a low-pressure, encouraging environment, where:
-
Students work at their own comfort level
-
Skills are strengthened gradually and intentionally
-
Confidence is built through consistent, supported practice
-
Learning is personalized and aligned with each family’s goals
Alongside individualized work, students enjoy abundant opportunities for natural play, exploration, and peer connection, supporting social-emotional growth alongside academic development.
Natural Learning Opportunities
For families seeking a more open, child-led experience, students may attend the Learning Center without participating in individualized curriculum work.
Children in this pathway have access to all natural learning activities, hands-on projects, creative invitations, outdoor play, and exploration offered throughout the day. Learning unfolds organically through movement, creativity, curiosity, and social interaction, without structured academic instruction.

Explorer Fridays
Science • Social Studies • Nature Enrichment • Arts
Fridays at Rising Moon Meadows are dedicated to curiosity, creativity, and hands-on discovery. These enrichment days invite students to explore science, social studies, art, and nature through engaging, meaningful experiences.
Students participate in themed projects, experiments, and discussions that connect learning to the world around them. Lessons are interactive and exploratory, designed to spark curiosity and build confidence.
Fridays also include art and craft experiences, using a variety of materials inspired by nature, seasonal themes, cultural studies, or weekly learning focuses. These sessions encourage creative expression, strengthen fine-motor skills, and allow students to bring ideas to life through hands-on making.
In addition, students engage in nature enrichment, spending time in the meadow and forest spaces, observing seasonal changes, building with natural materials, and learning through outdoor play and discovery.
Explorer Fridays are a vibrant blend of science, social studies, art, and nature-based learning—a day where curiosity leads, creativity flourishes, and the world becomes the classroom.
Friday Teen Project Group:
Our Friday Teen Project Group is a collaborative, project-based learning space designed for teens who want deeper, more meaningful learning and connection with peers their own age.
Instead of traditional classroom instruction, Fridays focus on hands-on, interest-led projects that teens help design and lead. Learning happens through real-world application, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.
Project and skill-building experiences may include:
-
Creating a mini business (idea development, budgeting, branding, and marketing)
-
Designing and running science experiments or investigations
-
Engineering and maker-style builds and design challenges
-
Research or creative projects connected to student interests
-
Life-skills opportunities such as First Aid/CPR training, food handler’s cards, mock interviews, leadership development, and workplace readiness.
-
Guest speakers who share about their careers, trades, or areas of expertise.
This group also intentionally supports social-emotional growth. Teens have time and space for:
-
Building friendships and connecting with peers
-
Group discussions, reflection, and collaboration
-
Practicing communication, leadership, empathy, and self-awareness
Educators act as mentors and facilitators, supporting time management, goal-setting, and follow-through while giving teens meaningful autonomy and ownership of their learning.
Fridays offer teens a balanced space for learning, creativity, skill-building, and connection—ideal for those who thrive with flexibility, purpose-driven projects, and community.
