The Gardens

Rising Moon Meadows wants to plant and grow a food forest. Your first question might be, what's a food forest? In simple terms, it's like a forest, but all the plants produce food, are edible, or are medicinal with layers of plants, big trees, mid-size shrubs, small plants and ground cover. In long, a food forest is a diverse, perennial garden that mimics a natural forest's ecosystem and patterns in nature. Through layers of design, life extends in all directions producing food, medicine, sanctuary and habitat.

We want our food forest to hold space for community gardens. It is now more important than ever to know where our food comes from. To have our hands in the soil and to grow food for now and the future. This is how we help heal the earth and ourselves.

We are in the process of developing the garden space and food forest so make sure to keep an eye out for upcoming work parties as an opportunity to be involved in one of our events. You can also follow along @risingmoonmeadows on Instagram or sign up for our newsletter to receive email updates.
